Details:
The Gandhi Method is one of San Diego's most forward thinking, unabashedly pop-oriented singer/songwriter collaborations. Comprised of three respected songwriter's - each of whom are engaged in solo projects of their own, the resulting sound incorporates lush 3 part harmonies, tight, funky grooves and lyrics that extend well beyond the confines of the "pop" construct. For nearly a year and a half (9/03 - 12/04) they captured the attention of the San Diego music scene, even before they recorded their debut/breakup release.

Some clues as to just how deep the Gandhi well went (or was dug, if you will) may be evidenced in the albums each released prior to the three banding together. Upon hearing The Gandhi Method's album "Hi", the keen ear may also recognize a collective increase in their musical relevance as well.

The semi-eponymously titled Chuck Schiele and the Mysterious Ways is a globetrotting feast of pop hooks, exotic rhythms and deeply introspective lyrics. Alongside a few instrumentals that feature Schiele's excellent guitar work, Chuck's band plays with a singularity of focus that so succinctly captures his world view that one reviewer was prompted to comment: "When he sings about soul, you know he has one."

While Sven-Erik Seaholm's own CD, Upload features contributions from 22 (!) of San Diego's finest musicians, the end result is still a surprisingly focused and cohesive representation of one man's love for music. Deftly moving between Beatles/Brian Wilson influenced pop, alt-rock brawn, R&B grooves and acoustic textures, Seaholm's catchy and clever songs remain the focal point throughout, and the recordings aptly demonstrate why he has become the first-call producer for scores of local artists.

California born and raised, Cathryn Beeks spent much of the last 15 years roaming the US in pursuit of her musical dream. Her style is a culmination of her time on the road: From the country-western influence of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, the alternative rock experience of Cleveland, Oh to the grass roots basics of being a street musician.
Her current CD "Songs for Sale" is an eclectic potpourri of styles and genres, combining her work with 5 different bands from all over the country. Now a loyal San Diegan, Cathryn is hard at work on her next release due this year.

In EVERY performance, the "Gandhis" delivered riveting sets to incredibly enthusiastic crowds, and shared with them a mischievous streak that virtually ensured a surprise or two at every appearance.
As the band liked to say, three heads are better than none. C'mon, wake up and smell the revolution. It sure sounds sweet.
