Details:
Mick Jagger will tell you, if you ever get the chance to ask him, that I am not his brother. And I, if you ask me (more likely!), will tell you that heâs not mine either. Okay, on we goâ¦â¦â¦â¦â¦

Since I got my first guitar, from the junk shop across the road from school, the thing that has really got me going is playing music. Playing music and singing. Itâs when I really donât notice the time passing. Itâs absorbing. I love it.

My career started in 1976, playing guitar and singing with mandolin-maestro Simon Mayor and singer/ bass player Hilary James, in their group Spredthick. Since then I have spent a good deal of my life writing, playing and recording music, mainly inspired by English songwriters and English folk music, and by blues singers and ragtime guitarists,â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦ and really enjoying it.

I have just released my first solo album. 13 songs, all recorded as live takes, in nice places, augmented with my best efforts to make the songs sound as I wanted them to sound. Additional guitar tracks and lots of harmony vocals, recorded with the luxury of a laptop and, thankfully, not much else. Interpretations of Maxime Le Forestier, Richard Thompson and Ralph McTell, I think, compliment very well my own songs; the power of commerce, requited and unrequited love, the destruction of the English language, the lot of the pub musician and the atmosphere of a small town bar are all there, whilst Jaggerâs Rag showcases the ragtime finger-picking guitar style which I feature more and more in my live show.

I am very lucky to have acquired vast experience over the years, touring, recording, broadcasting and in theatre. Highlights include playing the Reading Festival, sharing the stage with John Mayall at The Forum in Kentish Town, gigging with Steve Marriot, Pete Brown and David Amram, the blues festival in the cave at Balve, Germany, performing in theatre productions of Angels Still Falling (Richard Deakinâs excellent bio-play of Jack Kerouac and Neal Cassidy âoff West Endâ in London and New York), recent sessions for ambient artist Simon Webb, with Bernie Marsden and Simon Edwards, radio sessions for Paul Jones and Hale and Pace and TV in Germany and the UK. Add 10 years touring with my band The Jaggernauts and 5 albums and weâve got toâ¦â¦â¦ well, about half way

Iâm just coming to realise how important it is to be able to understand who Iâve been influenced by and how that influence has been reflected in my music. I should like to include, in no particular order, Joni Mitchell, Ralph McTell. Jack Kerouac, Jacques Brel, Martin guitars, Nic Jones, Robert Johnson, Blind Blake, Alain Fournier, Tony Benn, Westmalle Triple and Bob Dylan.
