Steven Markus Bernstein has been playing saxophones in bands since he was 14 years old. He recorded an album for Atlantic when he was 18 and appeared on national TV shows such as the Dinah Shore, Mike Douglas, & Jim Nabors, during the time he played with the "street corner singers" from the film Rocky. Steven is an accomplished blues/funk tenor sax player who has played major blues festivals around the country. His new CD, "Distant Sky" contains only original material ranging in styles from Funk, Blues, Soul Ballads, and Instrumentals.
Steven has played with Latin greats Tito Puente and Joe Cuba, Blues with Sonny Rhodes and W. C. Clark.
"Distant Sky" was produced in Austin, Texas with some of the finest musicians in the area including Ian McClagen (Faces), Malford Milligan, Barry "Frosty" Smith, Scrappy Jud Newcomb, John Bush (New Bohemians), Danny Levin (Asleep at The Wheel), and Ponty Bone.
"Distant Sky" is some really good music and well worth a good listen.
