She's California meets Liverpool - melodic vocals over chiming guitars - it's earnest, sweet and rocking. With a touch of whimsy and a whole lot of heart.
6 MP3 Songs
POP: California Pop, POP: Delicate
Details:
WHAT A GIRL WANTS?
She sees through California eyes where rose-colored glasses are more often than not, tinged with visions of otherworldly islands. She searches for her "DOLLOP OF PURE CONFECTION" as she peers clearly "HERE IN THE DARK" on some troubadour balcony high above some city...somewhere, anywhere.
Imagine this: A cider house, serving perhaps flavors apple and pear, open for patron dreamers all around the clock "ON THE AVENUE" of a faraway boulevard escape. She's onto something like a mirage that can be kissed. All possible when you "FOLLOW YOUR BLISS." If she asks "SHOULD I TELL YOU WHAT I'M THINKING?" without hesitation say YES, three times faster-than-light!
Who is she? GAIL GEORGE. What does she want? Only "A DEEP BLUE BUTTERFLY...TO RADIATE THE NIGHT." Now is that too much to ask for? We didn't think so.

Born in Napa, California Gail's experience as a singer began at an early age participating in various choirs through high school. With pop/rock band Tranz, she sang lead and background vocals as well as co-writing most of the songs, catching the attention of LA's independent label Beat Records. A single was issued, garnering local airplay. More recording and another release followed, this time singing with Room With A View. The band's local EP featured jazz great Jessica Williams on piano and sold out as they gained a following performing primarily in Northern California.
Gail shared her Kirsty MacColl/Aimee Mann-esque vocal talents with singer/songwriter Caron Vikre through 1996, also making contributions to Vikre as a vocal arranger. Added to George's singing profile are various recording sessions that include working with Elektra's Brent Bourgeois (Bourgeois Tagg), Anton Barbeau and producer/guitarist David Houston (Tony! Toni! Tone!).
In March 2001, Gail recorded her self-penned Fool's Paradise, finding a home on the popular International Pop Overthrow - Volume 4 compilation. Continuing her string of releases, George's wonderful rendition of legend Gene Pitney's Mr. Moon, Mr. Cupid And I became a standout and critically acclaimed track on a CD (He's A Rebel: The Gene Pitney Story Retold) that included songs from Gordon Waller (Peter & Gordon) and Al Kooper. Artist extraordinaire Lisa Mychols (Wondermints, The Masticators, The Waking Hours), with whom Ms. George also supports as a background vocalist on many of Ms. Mychols projects, produced both tracks.
Currently living in Los Angeles, Ms. George recently completed her first solo effort, Follow Your Bliss with Tom Richards of LA pop/rock heroes The Waking Hours and Mike McCormack of Everybody Else.
