The music of Italian composer, Mauro Giuliani (1781-1829) is an integral part of any flute and guitar duoâs repertoire. In addition to composing, Giuliani was a fine cellist who was part of the orchestra in Vienna that premiered Beethovenâs 7th symphony (December 8, 1813). Greatly admired and respected by Beethoven, he referred to Giuliani as âIl Divinoâ. Giuliani was also one of the great virtuoso guitarists of his generation and therefore knew very well how to write for the instrument. This vast knowledge of the guitar and his beautifully crafted melodic lines make his works for flute and guitar timeless classics.
