Nick Joseph is a pop, rock, soul sensation on the riseâa creation of passionate musicians from different backgrounds.

Nick Joseph, Jake Harper, and Dan Krysa came to New York playing for separate bands and venues across the city. Then the musicians merged their talents. Immediately, there was a spark between them.

One idle afternoon, Nick decided to play Jake some songs he had written. Jake began to jam with Nick on his piano, and it only took a few seconds for them to realize they had something special. The result was a fusion of styles reflective of their different backgrounds with a common focus â the creation of fresh, genre-blending music. Jake, from the south, is a jazz-trained pianist with a propensity for hip-hop and soul, while Dan, from the east coast, is musically inclined toward super-pop, funk and techno. Nick, born and raised in the Chicago area, is a classically trained musician who enjoys mainstream pop and R&B.

This unique blend of musical training, styles and interests explains the wide range of songs the band writes and performs: from slow, deep, melodious tunes to up-tempo R&B-influenced beats to catchy, rock music.

Despite the diversity amongst musicians, Nick Joseph is not like the contemporary bands that focus on individual musical talents. Nick Joseph is a band in which each instrument and part plays an intricate role in the formation of the song as a whole. Nick Joseph has taken notes from the bands of the 60's and 70's, like The Beatles and the Rolling Stones, in understanding that a masterpiece is not created by an individual's performance, but by the tight-knit groove of the band as a whole.

In 2008, Nick Joseph released a four-song EP entitled New Shades of Blue. Compelled by their growing popularity on college radio stations, internet radio, and by the outstanding attendance at their New York City shows, Nick Joseph decided to complete a national tour this summer. Their performances will span from the Knitting Factory in New York to the Knitting Factory in Hollywood.
