A few words from Kitty Gill...

I love children, and have been writing children's songs for more than twenty years. You can find my material on Brother for Sale and I Am the Cute One by the Olsen twins. I co-produced, wrote and sang several songs for the Early Ears (BMG) CD compilation, a collection of songs for children ages 0 to 6. Mondo Book Publishing commissioned me to write a song based on their childrenâs book, "The Legend of the Hummingbird"; the song also appears on my Secret Door CD.

I have always wanted to put into song what it is that children dream of and how they feel about certain emotions that are sometimes too complex to talk about. My hope is that Secret Door will playfully, and simply, bring children closer to their hearts. Pixie Sage, the adorable and mischievous character featured on my Secret Door CD, will soon be available as a doll, so that kids can always have Pixie Sage by their side.

My latest release, Om Mane Padme Hung, is a Buddhist chant that has been turned into a song, so children can learn more about how to calm themselves through musical meditative listening. Through the lyrics of the piece, children can learn what this chant means. The CD includes three versions of the song. The first is the original 5 minute piece. The second is an extended 15-minute version that children can meditate to or do while practicing yoga or Tâai Chi. The third is a 25-minute version that children and adults can use to meditate.

Currently, Iâm writing songs -- inspired by other Buddhist chants -- for use in several yoga centers, and writing music for healing and wellness counseling. Those pieces will also appear in an upcoming release.
