Mike Morey is a classical and electric guitarist, composer, and improviser whose distinctive style has developed from a unique synthesis of classical, rock, and jazz/fusion music. His compositional, performing, and recording activity includes numerous guitar works in the mediums of solos, chamber music, and orchestra.
"Bridging the Gap..." contains original music for solo guitar as well as works that include violin and flute. The music contains the formal elements of classical, the heavy rhythms of rock, and the complex harmonies and modulations of jazz. The overall goal of this recording was to compose intricate music for the guitar that fuses these styles while keeping a free and improvisatory spirit.
