'She Is' is an acoustic duo which formed late 2004 featuring Kali on Vocals/Acoustic Guitar, and Lauren on Acoustic Guitar/Backing Vocals/Percussion. Kali and Lauren have been playing in and around Sydney frequently since their beginning. They met at The JMC Academy, a renound music institute in Sydneyâs Surry Hills in 2003 and started playing in a college band (Vexed - with Lauren on drums) and decided to team up for something a bit different! They both graduated from The JMC Academy in association with the University of New England with a Bachelor of Arts in Popular Music and Performance in 2006 and have put all focus into their music. Since their beginning they have played at a large number of Sydney's venues, and competed in several competitions. They both write and arrange for She is, which is predominantly an originals band- with some well known, and well loved covers occasionally slipped in. 'Here!!' was recorded in early 2007 with Peter Northcote at his Sydney Studio. This EP showcases some of She Isâ finest material. The delicately selected songs reflect on the broad spectrum of musical styles which She Is incorporate into their song writing. They were blessed to have the talent of Peter Northcote, who kindly laid down some lead tracks to spice up the songs, as well as Lauren adding some simple percussion to add another dimension. She Is are consistantly gigging and coming up with great new material...Keep an ear out!
