Systematic Tragedy is an innovative rap trio from Los Angeles, California. Formed in 2005, the group consists of Element the Truth, Drone & Marc Whyle. Unlike typical hip hop, their music combines dark yet moving melodies with rock influenced drum beats and positive lyrics. Each member of the group is unique in both lyrical style and personality. Their sound is influenced by a wide variety of artists such as Danny Elfman, Frank Sinatra, Bone Thugz-N-Harmony and Insane Clown Posse. Understanding that their music is unique, Systematic Tragedy has named their music âTri-cension Rapâ by fusing the words âTribulationâ and âAscensionâ.

After meeting in high school in 2001, Marc Whyle and Drone began making music individually in 2003. After a few small projects and unfinished albums, the two joined forces in early 2005. While attending college, Marc met an MC named Element the Truth. The three recorded a few tracks together before forming Systematic Tragedy, or SMT, in the summer of 2005. On October 17th, 2006, their debut album âThe Mind, The Talent, The Imageâ was released on their own label 2 Intoxicated Entertainment. The album features the song âNothinâ Lasts Foreverâ which is SMTâs most popular song to date.

In 2007, SMT began performing at local bars and clubs where a small but growing fan base always shows their support. Always energetic and full of intensity, their show includes many theatrical elements such as stage props and eye-catching costumes. With merchandise for sale and an infinite supply of flyers, SMT always makes sure the crowd leaves knowing who they are. Though their music is different, it is SMTâs stage show that sets them apart from most groups. As a result of their unforgettable show, SMT has been invited to open for artists such as The Alkaholiks, Cashis (Shady Records), Talib Kweli and hip hop legend KRS-ONE.

Following the release of their debut album, SMT released an album called âAccidental Hits Vol.1â. The album features previously unreleased songs, remixes, and solo tracks by each member of the group. âAccidental Hitsâ will be an ongoing series of albums released every few years or so.

For the past year, SMT has been in the studio working on their sophomore LP entitled âEverything is Deadâ. This album, by far the groupâs best work, is sure to become an instant classic among fans. With songs like âWalk This Roadâ, âShe is Namelessâ and âTomorrow, I See Warâ, the album is already turning heads and catching ears. The album title is a reflection of SMTâs view on todayâs music and entertainment which they believe desperately needs a new direction. With âEverything is Deadâ, SMT hopes to revitalize music and entertainment by simply offering something different to music listeners. One by one, the Systematic Tragedy is claiming victims and changing lives for the better.
