*************************************************************************DISASTER RELIEF NOTICE***********************
Both Bona Fide Records and George Brigman are greatly saddened by the tragedy in the Gulf Coast and the level of response of the federal government and the statements some have made. We decided not to opt into the CD Baby donations pool as our sales arent significant enough to make an immediate impact. Instead we are donating twice the amount of our entire CD Baby invertory (about $380) as well as aborting a planned trip to Charlotte to see our friends Antiseen and Hank III play on the 7th and donating what would have been gas money from that trip as well(about $125--today). All donations will be made directly to the Red Cross. In addition, from each CD Baby sale we will donate another $5 to disaster relief. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all who have been affected by this great tragedy--Rick Noll

BALTIMORE'S MOST NOTORIOUS GUITAR SLINGER RETURNS WITH A VENGEANCE AND A NEW CD!

The buzz around Baltimore's George Brigman first began in the mid-70s when an 18 year old George recorded and later released his first LP, the now infamous Jungle Rot, a wicked mesh of wah-wah, distortion and mutant blues. That LP quickly gained cult status as it was quite unlike anything else out then. By 1982 David Fricke writing in Musician called Jungle Rott "the collector's holy grail" and referred to George's guitar playing a "heady revelation". Brigman's reputation solidifed even more with the 1982 cassette I Can Hear the Ants Dancin' which due to popular demand was reissued on vinyl by Or records in 1995. The European release of Brigman's Human Scrawl Vagabond LP drew even more international attention and rave reviews when issued in 1986 by Resonance Records. Along the way George had the 7" EP Silent Bones on Bona Fide Records as well as a cut on Bona Fide's psychedelic comp Train to Disaster. Now 30 years after his career started, Brigman returns with a fully annotated and greatly expanded CD version of I Can Hear the Ants Dancin'. This CD out now, was followed in July by the much anticipated first ever official CD reissue of the classic Jungle Rot LP.

With the CD release of Ants Dancin, all of the George Brigman and Split recordings from 1977 are, for the first time, assembled in one 72 minute package featuring 14 minutes of previously unreleased material, unpublished color photos and liner notes which explain the Brigman mystique. The original Ants Dancin' LP is augmented by 10 extra tracks which showcase the remarkable guitar playing and songwriting of a truly unique player who earned his cult status. Quiet dreamy songs alternate with flat-out fuzz-fried rockers to create a potent web of sound like no other. It is no wonder the buzz continues to grow around George with now even the bloggers getting into the fray as well. This is especially true overseas where the adulation has caused some unwanted attention. At the end of 2004, two European labels, Radioactive in the UK and Synton in Austria, decided to issue George's Jungle Rot on CD; however, they neglected to properly license the material, recording it straight from a poorly pressed LP, and when contacted by George and Bona Fide Records, refused to pay a cent of royalities. Various forces were put into motion, and those CDs were banned and allegedly "withdrawn". In order to combat the boots, Brigman decided to release his own expanded versions straight from the master tapes with bone crunching sound and deluxe packages.

Now Bona Fide Records, inactive for 15 years or so has been resurrected and is proud to present the first ever authorized CD reissues of George Brigman's amazing body of work!

Both I Can Hear The Ants Dancin' and Jungle Rot are available NOW. Of special note to collectors are the 3 bonus tracks on the Jungle Rot CD which are unreleased tracks from George's band Hogwash recorded in 1976 between his first two LPs as well as vintage color photos taken inside "The Hole" during the recording of Jungle Rot!
A painstakingly remastered first ever authorized vinyl repro of Jungle Rot with George's own handwritten lyrics is also available email for info! Even more inticing is the news that George is completing an all new LP Rags in Skull for release in the fall. It is obvious the unusual music of one of rock's most dynamic guitarists and cult figures is finally reaching an ever widening audience he so rightly deserves!

From over the top screaming distortion drenched fuzz workouts to magical flowing ballads, I Can Hear The Ants Dancin' stands far apart from every empty trend and it delivers the goods in a bad way for those in search of uncompromising rock and roll which streches boundaries and stradles genres. The days of the guitar hero are apparently gone, but it's great to have someone like George Brigman who is a true rock and roll soldier fighting the war against the jive!
