The late night ride across the Arizona desert on tour in the summer. 3 hours of sleep, a rock for a pillow, and 12 hours to get to the show in Boise. Snow in Texas (I mean a blizzard).... is that possible? The barroom brawls with pool cues and broken bottles in Nashville. To drink in Utah many places you have to become a member of the club...hmmm? The woodshed with the bass, how many hours or years? Ahhh sorority parties for crazy money. Vegas. Background music for a comedy night? Battle of the Bands (jeesh those days) victory at age 15 in high school, no one had won before at that age. Classical piano recitals. The band in school playing clarinet and getting detention for taking impromptu solos.
The musical journey towards the creation and production of this album has been long, exciting, and ever changing while the arrival was also only possible through the selfless and enriching support of an innumerable assembly of dedicated friends, family, teachers, musicians, producers, bar owners, promoters, booking agents, scouts, avid music listeners, followers and critics. From San Francisco to Atlanta, from Austin to Boston traveling around always with but not only for music . Pressing on for the new experiences, the new road, this is the something I wanted to find .......that's the wander.
The Geoff Piper Band formed as an extension of Exhaust and a collaboration effort of many musician friends of Geoff's in the Bay Area. Geoff is joined by:
-- Benji Farquhar of Exhaust
-- Dan Barber of Exhaust
-- Jeff Hoekman is also an original member of Exhaust playing keys
-- Eric Schoen also a member of Exhaust adding the percussion and vibes
-- Josh Garey Josh and Geoff met the old fashioned way, newspaper ads searching for musicians. Whether he answered Geoff's or Josh answered his is to this day debated....but
the find was truly a gem for both. Josh's addition to the material through perspective and experience is immeasurable.
