Details:
"Invigorating and original... McRae joins the ranks of gifted young pianists." - JazzReview.com

"Solitary Persuasions" marks the third release from pianist/composer George McRae on AffinityJazz. This is not only Mr. McRae's first solo piano recording but certainly his most introspective and revealing.

From his hauntingly beautiful treatment of "When The Saints Go Marching In," to his soaring explorations on such standards as "Stella By Starlight" and "Autumn Leaves" to the deep lyricism of his own compositions (check-out "It's Never Too Late), Mr. McRae approaches his subject matter with a sensitivity and honesty which proves to be both refreshing and revealing.

Unlike most solo piano efforts which are recorded on one piano, McRae has chosen to record on three different instruments in three different environments. "I wanted to show the sonic differences between pianos" states McRae. "I also wanted to explore how space (the recording environment), time (the moment) and the instruments themselves (their sound and soul) influence a performance."

If you are a fan of Keith Jarrett, Bill Evans or Brad Meldhau it would be well worth you while to give this CD a listen.
