Details:
Gene Williams.
Born in South Africa and have been singing for a very long time.My mother the daughter and descended directly from the great Zulu Royalty, the dynasty of Shaka, Dingaan and Cetwayo. Father the son of German immigrants who arrived in South Africa in the 19th century. Started as a school teacher in South Africa, playing the piano at all parties on Weekends. While accompanying the local singers then realized that I knew more songs, could keep the Tempo and knew about Intonation. Very soon I was recording and had to concerntrate only on Show Business.
At the time the most likely place for us South Africans to go to, was England.

In England, I spent few years with the Top Bigbands, Jack Parnell and Eric Delaney. Naturally we toured the world and as Geography was my favourite I was in Seventh Heaven.
Went Solo and specialized in many styles. In Europe as there was no Nat'King'Cole, Billy Eckstine, Ray Charles or even Sinatra and Sammy Davis I was it. Sang the style sort of 'Whatever suited the occassion'.
The music tastes and styles have been changing through the years and so did I.
Years ago Calypsos became popular so I was the parfect Belafonte here in Europe.

I've always wanted to do music from my home and on this CD I am sort of introducing what I've always felt. For the first time I have recorded this mixture of African Music and a touch of South African Gospel.
Not to alienate the traditional Gospel lovers, also included a few American Gospels.
