A blend of what I like to call 'contempoclassic' has proved to be the perfect background sound for work, the drive home, and evenings spent winding down. It is easy listening at its finest.

EASY LISTENING: Background Music, NEW AGE: Healing

Details:
I was born in London, England with my twin sister, Susan. We loved England so much we stayed there for all of six weeks after which we flew to Toronto, Canada where I grew up. Mom and dad added one more four years later, Pam. I began taking piano lessons when I turned nine, with Nadine McDonald, a concert pianist and prodigy, in Toronto, Canada. Eventually we moved to the United States.

As a composer, I've been asked where I get my inspiration. The sources are endless, but for me, it took being unemployed. For some reason everything came together, the pieces, the style and the maturity of the music itself. It was a huge wakeup call to make me realize what I really needed to be doing, what I'm all about. I had to finally be true to myself, and admit what my "passion" is and do it.

Currently, I am collaborating with singer/songwriters Charlene, whose song "I've Never Been To Me" hit the charts at #3. Together we have written such notable songs as "Broken Woman" and "Why Can't Time Stand Still." I am also working on my second CD of piano compositions, a third CD for Christmas, and writing an original musical called "The Flower Shop." I am also scoring my second film.

My music is being heard by a number of film producers, who have said, "...it doesn't get any better than this." The music is adult contemporary, and has been compared to Jim Brickman, Yanni and John Williams "without the orchestration."

A number of my peers have said that the music is "sophisticated, pure, raw and soulful, with melodic and harmonic surprises," and the music "a blend of what I like to call 'contempoclassic' has proved to be the perfect background sound for work, the drive home, and evenings spent winding down. It is easy listening at its finest."

A very well known music composer and producer had this to say about my music: "Stephen's a real storyteller in his pieces and in his playing as well. These are such sophisticated musical stories; there is such a mix of emotion, happy to sad, pensive to exhilarating. He must be a very unique personality. The Nocturne, #9, is especially expansive and (to me) very deep. Almost like the adult is looking back and finally making sense of those great mysteries of life. I feel a great sense of perspective and balance in this music. A great security and maturity."

As a composer, I hope that as you listen to my music, it will take you on your own personal journey to places of peace, tranquility and joy. You can visit my website at www.stephengerzeli.com

My influences include such romantic composers as Chopin, Rachmaninoff, and Gershwin, as well as contemporaries such as Billy Joel, Elton John, The Beatles, James Taylor, Jim Brickman, and film composers such as James Horner, John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Alan Silvestri, Bruce Broughton and Danny Elfman just to name a few.

I currently reside in Santa Clarita, California with my wife Dora and our son Christopher.
