Details:
The Middle Georgia born singer/songwriter Gilbert Lyons started writing and singing at the age of thirteen. He sang while attending school in Crawford County, Georgia. He later sang lead for the gospel group "True Voices" while stationed in Germany. He sang in the choir while attending Fort Valley State University and was the lead singer for several local bands. Gilbert says that his music is hard to categorize. He loves singing and writing love songs, pop, R&B, country and blues. He says that his songs often reflect what he's going through and the experiences that he's had in life. This is certainly true when it comes to his first recording "Let's Talk It Over" and the recording "This Will Never Happen Again"-a song that was created during the confusion at the 1996 Olympic Park bombing. I feel that I have a better handle on things, which makes it easier when writing and recording now. I have a clearer understanding of what I am doing and the reasons I am doing them. I write and sing what's pleasing to me." He says that he has been influenced by such artists as Jackie Wilson, Sam Cook, Bob Seger and Ronnie Milsap to name a few. He feels that the world would be much better off if people would just take time and listen to all music and if they feel there is nothing out there to listen to-then he'll continue to write and sing until he comes up with something just for you!
