In 1998, Stones Throe Founding members, Eric Anderson and Darren Locke began playing in bands together and recording music. While recording their first two compilations as the Anderson Locke Band, the duo happened upon the keyboarding talents of Rod Tracy and the drum abilities of Jerod Sarcletti. The band also took on Adam Alexander as lead vocalist and formed Stones Throe in 2003. In the summer of 2003, the band members began writing and recording their first album. Overcoming hurdles such as work schedules and a studio move, Stones Throe released its self-titled debut (genre: rock, alternative rock) album in December 2005.
The band, wanting to change the focus of the next album, decided to head in a new direction beginning with the incorporation of a blues theme. Adam Alexander left the band and Darren Locke took over the lead vocals. With this new course in mind, Stones Throe began recording their second album. The band pursued its interest in recording with other musicians and called upon the talent of Jim Stroud of Nowhere Fast, Eric Jerardi of Eric Jerardi Band and Bob Stevens of Even Stevens Band. Peter Anderson added his saxophone skills to the mix and the band continued to employ the keyboarding prowess of Rod Tracy. The bandâs progress was again hampered by conflicting work schedules, slowing the release of the second album. In the winter of 2007, the band finally finished the recording sessions and decided on April 29, 2008 as the release date for the second album. The sophomore album, âAs The Crow Fliesâ, has drawn comparisons to the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band and The Chris Duarte Group. Stones Throe members are hopeful that âAs The Crow Fliesâ will be a welcome addition to their first release.
