Alexandra Samsonova, began her musical training at the age of six in Russia. Later she was admitted to the Berklee College of Music on a scholarship, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2002. Alexandra has performed with Kevin Mahogany, Greg Hopkins, Darren Barrett, Lionel Lueke and Jaleel Shaw to name a few. She has played at the Blue Note and the Carnegie Hall , and attended IAJE conference in 2000 as a guest performer. She has appeared at the Jamburee Jazz Festival in Barcelona, Ryles Jazz Club (Boston), Nantucket and Marthaâs Vineyard Festivals, Bi-2 Jazz Club in Moscow, Russia and completed a tour in Portugal and Spain in fallâ06.
Most tracks on CD are originals,with few arranged standards.The basic format is a piano trio with an alto sax added on some tracks. There is also a solo piano version of a beautiful medieval Italian song.
