With born-deaf grandparents, Mark Hildreth was an unlikely musical prodigy. Inspired as a child by Elton John, Billy Joel and John Lennon, he taught himself to sing and play the piano at the age of 10.

At age eighteen, Mark was accepted to one of Canadaâs top arts programs, in the culture-rich city of Montreal, Quebec. They accepted 12 applicants per year â Mark was the youngest.

A few years later, after playing just two live gigs as a solo artist, he was invited to showcase at Sony/BMG in New York, and signed a demo deal with Warne Livesey, the prodigious producer of Midnight Oil, Holly McNarland, The The, 54-40, and The Mathew Good Band. Having sold over 15 million records, Mr. Livesey knew that Markâs first full-length album, Complex State Of Attachment, an instantly hummable collection of pop/R&B songs rife with heart, honesty and groove would be a success.

But before he could make it into the studio, Markâs life suddenly changed. One of his closest friends died suddenly of a drug overdose. With this event, Mark discovered a new passion for an ideology behind his music, and the one musician who would inspire it â Stevie Wonder. Says Mark, âWhat really gets me about Stevie is his perspective as a songwriter. He always writes from a standpoint of building love and compassion in the world, and that is what I committed to doing with my music on Complex State Of Attachment.â

An artist with hundreds of stage appearances under his belt, and the winner of the 2006 Singer Songwriter Awards and the Billboard World Song Contest, Mark splits his time between Los Angeles, New York and Vancouver, Canada. He has a perspective and an emotional depth that are rare in this world, and it only takes one meeting to see it. âI know that people can change, that the world can change, because I changed. And I want to share that.â
