Raju Mali, originally from Katmandu in Nepal, is a talented, music producer, multi-instrumentalist and singer songwriter based in Birmingham, UK. His music genres cover mostly: Hip-hop, RNB, Jazz, Drum 'n' Bass, Garage, Dange, Reggae and POP. Instruments played include: guitar, bass, drums, keyboard and a variety of percussion instruments. Mali composes, produces and performs live for film, theatre and live music gigs.

Mali's music and vocal range capture the essence and depth of the human spirit and soul. His versatility, presence and artistic range is a special talent, bringing words and emotions alive through rich and original compositions. Mali is an eternal energy in the music and cultural industry.

Mali, at an early age was introduced to music through the painstaking art of keeping rhythm using tambourine and shakers⦠this provided him the building blocks to extend his development, treading into classical Indian and then western compositions. In 1999 Mali's life drastically changed⦠he emigrated from Nepal to the UK. Mali was harshly exposed to the urban culture shock of a foreign city⦠Birmingham, Handsworth.

Although he found it tough to adjust Mali was inspired by the vibe of the city, its people and their music⦠through his interactions he decided music was his life, passion and destiny! And in 2003 Mali emerged from his self-learning programme, starting to produce music and work with a range of artists from Birmingham, London and Worcester.

Key milestones:
August to September 2005: sampad's MUSICMANIA developing urban legends programme â assistant artist and composer.

November 2006 to January 2007: Composer and live performer to 'the Secret History of Indian Cinema' (part of the Cinema of Prayoga national tour) - which included India's first ever film⦠D.G. Phalke's 1913 epic 'Raja Harishchandra'
March 2007: Producer, artistic director and live performer for sampad's SABHA showcase at mac.

May 2007: Co-Artistic Director and live vocalist/instrumentalist at the Tolkien Weekend representing the Desi Darkside.

August 2007: Assistant composer for the Mohammed Rafi Shrine Project (Festival of Xtreme Building)
