Details:
I consider myself a multi-media artist involved with expressing myself through words, sound, colors, light and vision. I don't think in life you can really have one without the others, can you? And doesn't music always enhance whatever you're doing?.. whether reading.. seeing.. tasting.. loving.. living..?? It is the Universal Healer, reaching across every peoples' consciousness to Unify our One Collective Mind in Divine Harmony!

In my particular case, in addition to writing lyrics and singing, I play a mountain dulcimer, keyboards and some percussions. A dulcimer is a four-stringed, hour-glass shaped wooden instrument played while it rests on the lap... usually strummed with a dulcimer pick, although I never use one. Dulcimers can sound very reminiscent of Indian music... a bit droney and melancholic, even wistful at times. Dulcimers also emote a country "mountain music" twang.. as in, "I'm from way back in them thar hills," if you know what I mean. After all, they hail from the Apalachian Mountain area, which goes all the way up to Canada. And, d'you remember when Joni Mitchell used to play a dulcimer on her first albums? ("Oh, yeaaaahhhh...," I can hear you all agreeing beneath your breath.)

Anyway, I used to think my many God-given abilities were a freak of nature, or something equally weird. That it meant I'd always be classified as a "jack of all trades".. or, in my case, perhaps termed a "jackie of all trades"--or maybe even a "jackass..." Ha! Nonetheless, I never felt I was good enough at any one thing, carrying around this huge Atlas-like weight of inferiority on my shoulders.

I remember my father, who knew what he wanted to do since early on and carried it out very one-pointedly to great success, always saying to me, "You never stick to one thing! If you want to be a success in life, you need to stick to one thing. Otherwise, you'll be a gypsy all your life!"... until, finally one day he accepted me as the eclectic, lovable artist that I am! But now, at the ripe yet youthful age of 55, I've decided to let it all hang out.. I mean, why keep it in the closet? Why not share my music again and add it to my creative repertoire?? So, I've decided I'm gonna celebrate my musical talents and say, "Damn the torpedoes.. full speed ahead!"

Happily, I recently returned from the UK where I was given the amazing opportunity to record a few of my songs with producer extraordinaire, Stuart Epps. Stu was rather big in England in the 70s, and has worked with the likes of Elton John, Bill Wyman, Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Oasis.. and the list goes on. (You can always google him and find out more.)

Stuart is responsible for producing and arranging duties; plus, playing a variety of cool instruments, recording and mixing. I was very fortunate, indeed, to have worked with him because he's brilliantly talented. I do hope you enjoy the end results.

Peace and Blessings, oooxx Catherine Suchitra Badin
