The rap duo Boss Nutt & Mr. C (formerly known as "Prodagy") that brought you hits like "Money Trees", "Visions", and "Blazin' higher" is back as GPRII with its latest, visceral street-smart release: The Wide-Awakeness. GPRII are Fernando Payne and Che Carter. Over the last ten years, this one-two punch chemistry has performed on many stages throughout Michigan, Chicago,Cleveland and the entire Midwest show circuit as headliners and opening acts for today's chart toppers.This rap duo is no-holds-barred, delivering conscientious quotations, lyrical imagery and vocal inflections mixed with an unmatched delivery. GPRII's musical diversity is influenced by rap heavyweights Scarface, 8 Ball & MJG, Tupac, R&B artist Phyllis Hyman (Producer Jonas Dainius Berzanskis was her engineer in the mid nineties), to name a few. GPRII's first album was produced in 1996 under the name Prodagy by Motown legendary powerhouse songwriter Barrett Strong and his label, Incarcerated Sounds, based in Southfield, Michigan. After leaving Incarcerated Sounds,Boss Nutt and Mr. C created their own label and created GPRII.On The Wide-Awakeness, GPRII visits the club scene with songs like "Somethin Hot Somethin Rich" and "Party Like," the rippin live groove track featuring Funk(sh)Way, Detroit's most Zen-tastic, in-the-pocket rhythm section and produced by the inimitable Silver Tortoise Soundlab. In the intro to this album, Boss Nutt offers his lyrical narration of his present state of a familiar mindset. Immediately the scene takes you to the core of the GPRII bloodline with the hit track "Spittin Fire!" As the album progresses, GPRII sympathizes with the youth, affirming that "Living is Hell" in a song dedicated to showing compassion for the plight of their children.
