Artist: Damn!
Damn! has been a club phenomenon in Sweden since 1995, focusing mainly on organic, swinging music like funk, soul, afrobeat and latin. Damn! club-nights consists of DJ's spinning vinyl, spiced up with live instruments, (bongos, congas, fender rhodes, bass and sometimes a whole hornsection) vocals and visual treats. Cunningly switching between (and intertwining) these elements back and forth and on top of each other, a new ecstatically eclectic, yet cohesive and utterly dancable, whole is achieved. The objective has been to eradicate the border between what's from the record and what's being played live, always letting the omnipotent groove govern which way to take. Damn! won the price for best club in southern Sweden after making over 100 (crazy) nights with packed dancefloors. In 1996 damn! also released a homebrewed album, Natural Sounds as a gift to the clubs´ regulars. Stinky Stinky Ashtray; a Latin/soul flavoured tune from the album, was picked up by the producers from Sex and the city and the song became a small cult hit in Sweden and New York. Damn! music has also appeared in several feature films (Dinner Rush, Pluto Nash etc), as well as in Playstation games and TV shows. Damn! is still a club, but has transformed into a live act with nine musicians; percussion, bass, vocals, keyboards, guitars, trumpet, trombone and saxophone. In 2002 Raw Fusion released damn!s first commercial release African......... It quickly became a floorfiller dancefloors all over the world. The new 12 from Damn! is Leaving This Planet a smoking Charles Earland cover, complete with a Yam Who remix, followed by a full-length album Youth Style, wherefrom a single, Got To Go, is lifted..
