Long before the current rage of modern bossa on the market, the Italian-based Irma label was cutting some of the best new versions of 60s and 70s Brazil -- working in a classic mode that few other companies were offering at the time. Throughout the 90s, Irma's continued to cut some great bossa recordings, and this set is an excellent sampling of their rich work in the genre. The whole set's got a breezy jazz feel that's really great -- with vocals on most cuts, and some extremely strong work on keyboards, guitar, and percussion. Titles include Segundo by Del Gaudio Rossi & D'Angelo, Drummer Boy by Italian Secret Service, Rhodes To Bahia by Gazzara, Good Morning Sunshine by Bluecat, London Bossa by Sam Paglia, Sueno De Bahia by Don Carlos, Sombre Guitar by LTJ Experience, Tropical Wave by Mysterious Traveller, and Matumbana by Belladonna.
