Details:
I have been singing since I can remember, starting with any imitation microphone and a mirror imagining myself on stage. I always chalked it up as a dream until I met my friend, Darryl Berry, who gave me my first shot at performing live in 1994. He played acoustic music from the 70âs and 80âs, James Taylor, Linda Ronstandt, etc., and asked me to join him and make it a duo. We sang on and off in various restaurant/bars for a couple of years. Then, Kathryn Watson, his previous singing partner, moved back into the area and joined us to make it an acoustic trio. We continued to sing on and off for a couple of years. It was during this time that I started to write some music on my guitar. I would often play a sample or two for Darryl and Kathryn, and they would give me feedback. It was my song, âNo Reason, No Rhymeâ that got their attention. At that time, I asked them if they would help me record that song and a couple others I had written in a recording studioâ¦just so I could have an official recording of my music. They agreed. âNo Reason, No Rhymeâ was created.
Shortly after we recorded my music, as the cliché goes, âour band broke upâ. I never did anything with my music other than pass it onto some friends and family. Life went on. I got married and had two children. The guitar had been put aside. However, being recently divorced, I have been inspired to pick the guitar back up and start writing, as divorce tends to provide much material. Doing this made me think of the music I recorded 11 years ago. Finally, I decided I wanted to do something with it, for music and songwriting are my true passions. Who knows? I could put my music out there and nothing could happen. Then again, I could put it out there and some people may enjoy and relate to my music. Hopefully, the latter happens.
My music tends to be the âwhere my heart on my sleeveâ type of venue. I write about love and the âwhysâ and âhowsâ of life. My music tells a story. It is heartfelt and honest. I truly hope you enjoy it. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and for your consideration of my music.
Sincerely,
Julie
