Details:
How does a young middle-class nobody become a rapping sensation? It takes years of dedication and constant failures. Born James Klucharits, Randolph, NJ was not the best breeding ground for a rap star. âEverybody would tell me that I didnât have the right background and childhood to be rapping, but its all Iâve loved and all Iâve ever wanted to do.â In 1999, at the age of 15, he stopped DJing for a local rap crew and stepped up to the mic and into the spotlight. By June of 2005, he had released 3 albums through his own label, WtF? Records. âThey werenât good, in fact they all sucked hardcore, but I was surrounded by people I thought were my friends and they kept saying it was great and that I should keep doing it.â All came crashing down in mid 2005 when he realized the falsities. âI finally opened my eyes and saw through their lies, and I had a mental breakdown. Thatâs when I decided to stop rapping and start focusing on reality instead of trying to live a dream.â He may have wanted to stop the music, but the music was still brewing inside of him.
After a brief hiatus for most of 2005 and 2006, 8DS emerged ready to take on all cynics in early 2007, reinventing himself and his style with an 8 track EP entitled NEW ERA. âThat record was filled with a lot of hate and anger. But it was also was a ray of sunshine. For once, people really liked the music I was creating, I actually had fans.â
However it was through some chance encounters and an offbeat meeting with a friend that 8DS, the musician, really started to take shape. A 3 song demo (printed up for the few hardcore fans he had) made its way into the hands of a One-Shot Productions employee. One-Shot had been looking to branch out into the music business and they found the perfect artist to do it with. âI got an email one day, and it was offering me a development deal. I thought it was a joke and deleted it, until I got another one. Figuring I have nothing to lose, I gave them a call. Turns out they were serious, I was really being offered a deal.â
Before the ink was even dry, 8DS met the man who would shape Career Suicide in the modern masterpiece it is. âI had known Brian for about a year, I knew he was big in the punk scene with his band and I knew he owned a recording studio. I started talking to him about using his studio to record my album and before I knew it he was producing my record.â 8DS and Brian got right to work, crafting the perfect soundtrack with the gigantic library of beats Shadowville Productions was cranking out. âHe wanted me to use other people besides Shadowville, but I wouldnât have it. If it wasnât for Slantizeâs beats, I never would have started rapping again. They are the perfect fit for my voice and my flow.â Turns out not everything goes according to plan. Instead of using going to Brianâs studio where the 2 of them would work on the record, they opted to use one closer to home and with some professional engineers behind the board. âBrian introduced me to Mike, who introduced me to Kelly and Sean. And with all of their help, we made this recordâ
With Career Suicide, 8DS expands upon his already unique brand of so-called Attack Rap. âI did what I wanted with the right people and came out with a great fucking record,â and that pretty much sums this up. 15 months later, 8DS is poised to take the music industry by surprise.
