Mystafine, from Western Mass, has emerged with a mature sophomore album entitled âBoomBlast.â The album is infused with driving reggae rhythms and uplifting lyrical cries for unity of mankind.
The album is a timeless piece of music, produced and engineered in Northfire recording studio by dub scientist Garret Sawyer and Grammy nominated producer Angelo Quaglia. Released in mid 2008, âBoomBlastâ has received high praise from veteran reggae musicians and fans alike. The songs are lyrically based in reality; there is no fiction on this work
The albumsâ many powerful songs include âOne Mind,â a catchy soulful track about people uniting worldwide, over beautiful feel-good music with cross-over appeal. âFoundationâ a hard hitting roots tune features vocalist âHighah Seekahâ, who has been honored in many international publications, including the 2007 Reggae Festival Guide as the âArtist on The Rise.â The album also offers âNatural Collie,â a fresh Ganja Anthem with many witty lyrical hooks and a captivating guitar melody.
The band was founded at Hampshire College by guitarist Adam Steele Zucker, keyboardist Dan Berg, and vocalist Julian Albo. Mystafine has been tirelessly touring throughout New England for three years, carving their niche and working to perfect their unique sound while spreading the musical message of peace and love. The innovative sound of the recordâs original instrumentals composed by Adam Steele Zucker reflects his strong reggae influences with additional influences from rock and jazz. Adamâs guitar work has been acclaimed as having a unique tone akin to both the rhythm guitar of Bob Marley and the leads of Jerry Garcia. Julian Alboâs vocals resemble reggae greats such as Peter Tosh and Luciano. He combines his soul melodies bursting with love with a lyrical brilliance that uses simple parables to aid his telling of the times in this album of modern day psalms.
