âMaybe the titles are more interesting than the musicâ That was suggested about one of my previous projects. I hope the same cannot be said about the adventure that has been called âNever Turn Your Back To The Oceanâ Maybe not so much an adventure to listen to, but definitely an adventure to produce.

So, what was the inspiration for the titles, and /or the music? Or were the names just an attempt to avoid having a bunch of songs called âuntitledâ ?

âWhich Way to the Witch Weigh?â It has been surprising to hear the ideas people have about this one. It really was just a play on words.

âFirst Lightâ It was 6:00 in the morning, and we had to call it something.

âLiquid Chalkâ Inspired by the music of Hassan Hakmoun, which is great, and named for a spoon full of a prescription that tasted like, liquid chalkâ¦which wasnât so great.

âThe Dreamâs Dreamâ The dream is my daughter, and her dream is her daughter. The song is a conversation between the two.

âFriends of the Familyâ Remembering those that have been so much a part of our lives, that are no longer with us.

"It's Only Fair" One of only 4 or 5 songs,I have ever written where I was able to accurately convey the melody and rhythm exactly as I originally "heard" the song. The instruments used, however, are a very different matter, since the song was originally intended for a horn band.

âVersion 7â Edited with version 7 of a particular program, and performed on 7 instruments.

âPoint of Contentionâ Isnât there always?

âThe Landonianâ Iâve never been to Landonia, but Iâm sure if there were such a place, there would be some very interesting characters.

âEn La Barranca de Mi Corazonâ Actually based on a greeting card,but the line sounded too smarmy in English.

âThe Queen of Knivesâ Isnât there always?

âBebo!â If this one makes the listener think of a small child, then we have succeeded. Just the simple joy of music.

âThe Tea Treeâ I guess we saved the strangest for last. An office plant that thrived for years, until its owner moved to a different location, and gave the plant to a friend. The friend promptly killed it, or maybe it was the change of scenery, or maybe the plant missed the original owner, but it died. Tea drinkers started hanging their used tea bags on it, creating what some have called âan unusual work of artâ. We hope the same might be said of the music. Unfortunately, a photo wasnât available at the time, and neither was the song âNever Turn Your Back to the Oceanâ The title was not so much a warning of danger, but instead a matter of "you never know what you might miss." We hope the same might be said about the music.
