Here is a national hobby called Malpaís with all the warmth of their live presentations, interpreting ten of their most popular songs and four new songs.
Costa Rican Malpaís The group takes its name from a corner away from the Nicoya peninsula, a rugged beach and forgotten, that in recent years has gained great popularity because, undoubtedly, the reception has been impressive this banda among Costa Rican all generations.
Composed of six musicians of great career in circles as diverse as the new song, jazz, rock and classical music, Malpaís was formed in 1999 and gave his first concerts in 2001.
Since the release of his first album, called lacónicamente "One" in 2002, Malpaís was received as a phenomenon with its own personality. Their songs sounded different from anything that had been done before in Costa Rica (or elsewhere, some would say), yet the public identified with them immediately.
The characters communities, out of everyday life, references to the mythical past of childhood, courtyards between blue and endless pastures, the uneasiness of urban life, love and desamor. The universe of Malpaís, reflected in the songs of Fidel Gamboa, and the lyrics of his brother Jaime, have already become part of the collective imagination of the "ticos", beyond whether they have 15 or 80 years.
The mix of rhythms, influences varied, ranging from Central American folklore, the Celtic sounds, rock ballad, are the Caribbean and jazz fusion, have allowed Malpaís propose a novel experience to those who listen "live". The high ductility, experience and technical skill of the musicians makes the concerts are contagious even for those who do not know the lyrics.
Apart from Fidel Gamboa, who sings, plays guitar, flute, composes, arranges and directs the group, and his brother Jaime Gamboa, who is responsible for the low, choirs and some of the letters, Malpaís consists of keyboardist Manuel Obregon, which is one of the most prominent figures of the Central American music scene, for their contributions in the field of merger and recovery of musical traditions. Iván Rodríguez plays the violin, mandolin, flutes and Celtic ago choirs; Gilberto Jarquin plays the drums and Carlos "Tapao" Vargas (winner of two Grammy awards, as part of the banda de Rubén Blades) sum another battery and a varied September percussion. Finally, the couple Daniela Rodriguez makes choirs, voices of support and some key voice solos, which are part of the "signature" musical Malpaís.
Banda currently has three albums to his credit: "One" (2002), "Stories from anyone" (2004) and, more recently, "Malpaís Live" (2006). All, even the past, have gained Gold Record for its venrtas in Costa Rica.
Malpaís has already acted in Central America, Mexico and the U.S., but its true international newly starts.
People who are interested in Rubén Blades should consider this download.
