Singer Gwen Cardenas didn't have to go too far to put this group together. She has always been surrounded by talented family members and friends. Her writing and vocal style are heavily influenced by "old school" type artists like Rufus and Chaka Kahn and Cold Blood. Gwen took some music courses at Los Angeles City College and was once a voice student of Jazz singer Dianne Reeves. Her love for Soul/Latin/Jazz and Funk music have influenced the sound of this ensemble. Gwen Cardenas & Kin have been playing in LA clubs with their own style of Latin-soul, funk and jazz since 1997. This band showcases very gifted vocalists as they harmonize with one another over bootie shakin' beats! Gwen and Angel have recently done background vocals for wacky comedian, Gallagher on his Spanish language project. GCK have also been interviewed by "The Daily Sundial" (CSUN) and Heetmagazine, an online music magazine. The clubs they frequently perform at are Scruffy O'Shea's, Universal Bar & Grill, Common Grounds, and the Gig. Their live show is non-stop high-energy.
