Most of us know the usual ways for kids to make money, which include lemonade stands, newspaper routes and mowing lawns.
One of the biggest problems new entrepreneurs have is that they get discouraged. Some get discouraged more easily than others, but regardless of your tolerance level for disappointment, becoming discouraged is a natural emotion for all entrepreneurs. The difference between a successful entrepreneur and unsuccessful one is how you deal with the discouragement.
Involve your young kids in your business from the beginning. You'll be amazed at how the investment of time (and maybe some frustration) in the early days will pay off greatly down the road when your children can handle huge parts of your business without you because they've been well trained.
Kids look for business ideas when they are too young to have a regular job. It's worth encouraging this! Making their own money builds confidence, develops life skills, and encourages your child to take an interest in mathematics and written English - maths for calculating profit margins, and English for writing marketing materials.
