This album tells the tale of Alexander the Great. A mixture of both rhythmic and melodic entities, the arrangements introduce an incredible cello rhythmic section which characterizes the theme of the album and "stays" in the audience's ears.

Details:
"Stamatis Spanoudakis is widely regarded as the most prolific Greek composer of his age. Versatile in his music for film, television, records and concerts, he uses a rich and original musical palette that conjures up different perceptions in the sphere of musical imagery. He explores both tragic and dramatic experiences with an eye and an ear for the musical representation of the perennial dilemmas and joys faced by mankind both in the past and present.
To date, Stamatis has written concert works for rock groups, string orchestra, soloists and chorus. Future plans include compositions for wind, brass, tympani and percussion, adding to his fulsome output.
Concerts, including those at the George Enescu Hall (Bucharest) and the Royal Albert Hall (London), have proven his international reputation and the forthcoming visit to China will set the seal on this remarkable artistâs achievement in bringing his unique brand of Greek music to the widest possible audience.
I have had the privilege of conducting some of Stamatisâ concerts and I am continually impressed by the way he considers his music as a living entity that is constantly evolving and developing and is never completely set in stone." By William Relton, Conductor.
Stamatis Spanoudakis says:
"I 'met' Alexander the Great a few years ago through books that were written about him.
(It was a great pleasure for me to read Mary Renault's trilogy about Alexander).
I was thrilled by the man, his vision, his strengths and his weaknesses. His supporters and his critics will disagree for many years to come.
My view, although clear, is expressed in a language we rarely speak nowadays - Music. In my opinion, its blessed vagueness fills in all the blanks that the "words" leave.
I did not follow Alexander the Great, neither in relation to time nor space. I would say that I wrote the soundtrack of a movie that has not yet been made.
Alexander the Great brought Greece to the East. This caused the Gospels to be originally written in Greek. Even if this was his only achievement, it would have been enough for me".
