Details:
"Stamatis Spanoudakis is widely regarded as the most prolific Greek composer of his age. Versatile in his music for film, television, records and concerts, he uses a rich and original musical palette that conjures up different perceptions in the sphere of musical imagery. He explores both tragic and dramatic experiences with an eye and an ear for the musical representation of the perennial dilemmas and joys faced by mankind both in the past and present.
To date, Stamatis has written concert works for rock groups, string orchestra, soloists and chorus. Future plans include compositions for wind, brass, tympani and percussion, adding to his fulsome output.
Concerts, including those at the George Enescu Hall (Bucharest) and the Royal Albert Hall (London), have proven his international reputation and the forthcoming visit to China will set the seal on this remarkable artistâs achievement in bringing his unique brand of Greek music to the widest possible audience.
I have had the privilege of conducting some of Stamatisâ concerts and I am continually impressed by the way he considers his music as a living entity that is constantly evolving and developing and is never completely set in stone." By William Relton - Conductor.
Stamatis Spanoudakis says of the album:
âThe music and the songs for the film âBridesâ were written during winter 2004. Thus 30 years have gone by since I first started composing music the cinema in 1974. So, I hope that this personal anniversary, with hard times on one hand but with good times overall, was revealing. What has been offered to me is; less unnecessary knowledge, a deeper love and beneficial pain.
Looking back at these thirty years of film music (one aspect of my musical life so far), I see four films by Pandelis Voulgaris for which I have written the music: âStone Yearsâ, âThe Striker no. 9â, âAll In A Journeyâ, and âBridesâ.
This cannot be a simple coincidence. In any case âluck is Godâs pseudonym when he does not want to put His signatureâ.
Moving into a field, other than music, that makes me feel a little bit more comfortable, I would like to say the following: I believe that there is neither right or wrong music for a film. Because everything in space and time that concerns me, with Godâs blessing, is relative. The only obligation is âTo beâ. Much better than âTo haveâ or âTo knowâ. Everything else, unfortunately for many, but fortunately for me, does not depend on oneself. Therefore an artist, like a man in love, should finally surrender into the arms of his âbelovedâ and walk towards the unknown. This is the only precise and permitted artistic and humanly possible direction that an artist can take completely naked.
As he was born, as he should live and as finally, he should die.
Thereafter follows an extremely beautiful (more than words can say) continuity for both those who believe and those who do not. For all these reasons, but also for many others that I will think about some other time and let you know later, I love Pandelis Voulgaris⦠Joanna also'.
