Take a step back in time with a musical performance from the 19th Century where the "Heritage" String Band will perform songs, ballads and memories of the soldiers and civilians during the early, mid and late 1800's.
The songs performed are from the Union and Confederate soldier's point of view and are combined by the "Heritage" String Band with civilian songs, popular songs of the time and dance melodies.
The performances create an experience to hear great Americana music from our past, and also an opportunity to get a history lesson. Band historians will share brief information on the background of each piece, enabling the audience to gain a rich perspective on this vibrant music from long, long ago.
The music played emphasizes pre-war, Civil War, reconstruction and migration westward after the war. Musicians perform in period clothing with flags, lanterns and other details of the 1800's. The band includes narrations, lead singers, rich vocal harmonies with banjos, guitars, fiddle, drums, tambourine, accordion, tin whistle, harmonica, spoons, washboard, jaws harp, and bass fiddle.
