When broken down to its most basic element, rock-n-roll songs can be divided into two camps: songs about livin' & songs about lovin'. Whether good love, bad love, or good lovin' gone bad, this arena has served as very fertile ground throughout the history of rock-n-roll. Realizing the wealth of material in this field still yet to be mined, Hex on Wheels was born.
Originally a power trio, Hex on Wheels was formed in August 2000, when guitarist Chris Casella recruited bassist/vocalist Carrie Mularz, and drummer Joe Sturma. With all three members having experience in other bands (among them...Kitty Jones, Large Mouth Bastards and Gorilla Monsoon), the lineup quickly jelled and was soon playing live shows. The band made its live debut at the legendary Columbus, OH campus punk rock dive Bernie's Distillery and quickly built a sizable local following.
To appease the masses, a demo EP was recorded. After the recording was completed, the services of guitarist Chris Michael (Throat/Crazy Ray) were enlisted to further augment the band's rapidly maturing sound. In January of 2002, Joe Sturma moved to Texas.
Larz Raymond former drummer from The Favors and 13 O' Clock joined forces with Hex on Wheels in January 2004 to record a new demo CD and subsequently became the new man at the throne.
Still more live shows ensue. The band continues to hone its uncompromising musical style, incorporating elements of 70's styled arena riff-rock with the much more recent, high energy Scandinavian rock explosion. Fueled by two Les Pauls and driven by a need to ROCK, Hex on Wheels is a relentlessly efficient rock-n-roll machine.
