Avocado Happy Hour is a Rhodes piano and vibraphone duo from Baltimore, Maryland consisting of Amanda Schmidt and Rod Hamilton. They play lovely minimalist pop music which often features glockenspiel, vintage keyboards, percussion, and lap top sounds. In 2008 they released a six track instrumental EP titled "Instrumental Interludes Andâ¦", though they are currently working on a full length record which will introduce dreamy female vocals (expected to release in spring 2009). The music draws heavily from ambient, folk, jazz, electronic, and minimalist rock genres, and it is also influenced by the characteristic absurdism and filth in Baltimore. The live show features musical improvisation as well as performance art, crowd participation, and a general feeling of euphoria.
