Andie Perkins, a Washington DC based singer/songwriter, creates consistantly well-written, memorable songs with evocative lyrics. The much anticipated debut CD, "The Mercy Seat" contains 12 original songs that blend pop, roots rock and alternative music styles to create a unique listening experience. Her songs are drawn from her own life experiences, encompassing themes of love and family as well as life's tiumphs and lost expectations. Both the personal and the larger societal context are addressed, as the songs explore the myriad complexities of the emotional experience in a down to earth, heartfelt manner.

"I came across a phrase from the bible cited in a novel I was reading, and I thought it poignantly evoked a spirit of forgiving the human race for its frailties and forgiving oneself." That's how Andie describes the inspiration for the title track "The Mercy Seat."

Andie has been performing for many years, starting out in Los Angeles where she lived for several years. She is now residing in the Washington DC area, where she regulary performs in clubs and coffee houses.

For "The Mercy Seat" Andie enlisted producer Mike Harvey and several talented musicians including Harry Dailey(Jimmy Buffet's band) and local favorite Dave Kitchen. The CD's original arrangements infuse each song with rich, vibrant sound as the strong lyrics anchor the songs. Her voice has a unique character, and the strong and emotive phrasing is a perfect medium for the songs that make this compilation so captivating.
