HiDDeN's Singer Santina Giordano, and bassist Joey Maramba, met at Arroyo High School in El Monte back in 1989. In many hallway chats before math classes, Joey and Santina discussed their music passions. Depeche Mode and The Smiths were two examples of bands on their common ground.
Joey introduced Santina to the Pixies, and as she puts it "It was all over from there! We fell in rock and roll love and learned how to write songs together."
Drummer, Frank Luis, is the last edition to this energetic rock experience. He first witnessed Hidden at the 1998 Mountain Jam, and marveled at the huge sound coming out of the trio. He says, "It was a magical time, I heard this amazing music and learned that only three people were creating it."
Over the next year, Frank found his way into a jam session with Joey and Santina, and again they describe the coming together of their three talents as something mystic. Frank says, "Joey and I finally decided to jam and when we did -- it was magic. We all played together and the sound, the idea, the love just got bigger."
The rich experience of Hidden as a whole is due to the quality of its parts. Joey is an exceptional bassist, the musical transitions in the songwriting are powerful and spontaneous driven by Frank's playful and tight drumming, and Santina's vocals and lyrics express the musical substance of the songs poetically.
HiDDeN's creativity is a testament to the fact that a triangle is the strongest manifestation of geometry. A shape and a sound so perfect for everyday use, this band will not be hidden for much longer.
