A native of Stockton, CA. Playgyrl Slim has been said to be one of the fastest rising female rap stars on the scene today. She has a unique and different style compared to other female rappers. At age 9 she was already performing in front of crowds, capturing the interest of local promoters. In 1999 she performed with Pimp-A-Lot as the duo R.F.P. (Real Female Pimps) achieving underground success and drawing tremendous crowds at local and Bay area clubs. Her success gave her the rapport that helped her launch the youth group âTroublesomeâ.
In 2003 Playgyrl Slim release her solo album titled âWho Am Iâ, the album featured lost Bone member Court Dog from Kansas City. This album moved tremendous amounts of units. Playgyrl Slim has also appeared on several albums, mixtapes and underground Hip Hop shows from the U.S. to overseas. She has performed at several concerts where she was the headliner of some of the events. In 2005 Playgyrl Slim put together a series of freestyle battles in Stockton, Ca titled âNorthern Cali Freestyle Battleâ, that showcased up and coming rappers from all over California. Her music has been played on numerous shows such as the MTV Hip Hop show titled âMy Blockâ, the 2005 Vibe Awards, the E! TV show titled âGastineau Girls 109â, the Bravo TV show âCelebrity Poolâ, VH1âs âI Love New Yorkâ and more. She has also been in several magazines including Murder Dog, Down Low, Explosive Magazine, C2C Magazine, Boss Status and 916 magazine.
Playgyrl Slim was nominated for 2 awards âBest Female Rapper of the Yearâ and âAlbum of the Yearâ, at the 1st Annual Stockton Hip Hop Awards in 2006. In 2007 Playgyrl Slim was nominated for and won âBest Female Rapperâ at The 2nd Annual Stockton Hip Hop Awards. At The 3rd Annual Stockton Hip Hop Awards she was nominated again for âBest Female Rapperâ also âBest Performerâ and âGrinder Of The Yearâ. She took home the âGrinder Of The Yearâ award in 2008.
Playgyrl Slim dropped her 1st mixtape titled â2 Faceâ in March 2006 and âValley, Sac, And The Bay Networking and Grinding Part 1â Compilation in April 2007. Playgyrl Slim has also released an all female mixtape title âWe got Nextâ featuring Killa Kim. She also shot her first music video for âThangz I Doâ, directed by Drex from Envisionit Entertainment, in 2006.
