Born on a cold November night in Chicago, Dre Cagney was destined to be special. At an early childhood, music was essential in the life of this South Side native. His Mother and Father exposed him to the soul of the 60s, the funk of the 70s, and the rhythm of the 80s with greats like Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Anita Baker and many more. Writing lyrics and poetry became easy to young Dre Cagney, expressing himself in notebooks as early as eleven years of age. However, the format of writing great songs was not learned until he was introduced to a hot Chicago producer by the name of Andy C. With the help of Andyâs knowledge and guidance by his friend Olskool Ice-Gre, Dre began to understand his gift of touching people with words in a entirely new light. After working with Andy C, doing shows with Abstract Mindstate and being around hot producers and MCâs such as: Xtreme, Kanye West, Common and De La Soul things began to change. Cagney began getting radio exposure and appeared on one of DJ Pharrisâs mix CDâs. After learning from some of the best in Chicago, Dre started working with other producers such as Jamahl formerly of Spike & Jamahl productions. This relationship however dissolved and almost left the artist with a notion of giving up on his dream of becoming a top performer. With news of his Father being diagnosed with Cancer and later his Mother the same, Dre picked up the pen again with a new conviction; and with the passing of both parents seven days apart, he vowed to never give up on his dreams and show his Mother (his biggest fan) that he can make it in the music business. In 2004 he started his own company, âLettes Live Entertainmentâ using the second half of his beloved Motherâs name, Paulette. Reunited with 4 The Soul-Reciprocity Inc., he is now determined to let his talent and love for the art take him to the next level. Dre Cagneyâs mission is to make his dream reality in memory of his Mother, his Father, and for the legacy of his Child.
