Description:

(ID 340226)
Over 70 minutes of serene, ambient washes that morph into mind-altering chaos and back again... Hollydrift uses found sound and technology, married to all sorts of antiquated communication devices, to create thick, rich sound collages.

ELECTRONIC: Soundscapes, METAL: Dark Ambient/Noise

Details:
Hollydrift's 3rd full-length CD, "Waiting for the Tiller", continues to build on the solid foundation laid by previous releases "In These Days of Merriment" and "This Way to Escape." The new release features over 70 minutes of sound that streams in from the outer edges of our galaxy and bubbles up from deep within the earth. The recipe often calls for taking antiquated communication devices, marrying them to their modern electronic counterparts, and tossing them all into a musical melange that becomes greater than the sum of its parts.

Hollydrift's sound art appeals to fans of dark ambient, space music, noise, musique concrete, field recording and even more traditional styles of electronic music. Anderson manages to do this without the predictable pounding, screaming or screeching that has become much too common within the currently expanding ocean of "experimental" and "noise" artists. The result is a Janusian portrait: a fleeting glance at days gone by alongside a glimpse into an uncertain future. It is the soundtrack to a journey both beautiful and terrifying, and one that we cannot escape.
