Details:
Welcome to my world. Built with beats. Laced with lyrics. One of pure, unadulterated, head nodding hip-hop. Welcome to the world of Hookdignious.

The name is Hookdignious (hook-dig-nee-us). And no I'm not contagious. At least not in medical terms. But if you find yourself moving to the tracks as you see others do, then you might have caught something. From a Hip-Hop Eagle Scout; lovable lyrics laid over beats like butter on popcorn. I'm a hip-hop artist focused on one thing and one thing only. Having a good time on the mic. If I get to battling, bragging, or telling some kind of story, you better believe I had fun doing it. I like to ride the beat of a song I'm on. Making my lyrics subservient to the groove of the beat makes it blend right in to make the two become one. I try to make myself more of a compliment to the song, and less of a detriment to the listener.

I picked up my first pen to write a rhyme back 1991 after being influenced by a local rap group that released an independent tape of their music in my birthplace of Flint, MI. They were the Dayton Family. Other influences include DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, and A Tribe Called Quest. Being a heavy fan of rap music, I decided to give it a try as a hobby. Creating a significant amount of underground basement studio tracks, people began to say that I was good at rhyming and should try and do something serious with it. So I began taking skills I learned from my band class and piano lessons, and began to craft music of my own.

Using an out of tune piano and the back of some crumpled notebook paper...

With "Octopia", I've tried to create a foundation for my style and sound out of my studio. "Octopia" is a solo project fully produced and engineered by me and includes a couple of collaborations with some other independent artists. It features songs of me just having fun on the mic and being an MC. Especially an independent one. The blueprint for Octopia is just to set the tone for what I'm capable of. Something to get out and get my name in people's heads. Whether good or bad.

"One of the best qualities in Hookdignious is his ability to not take himself so seriously, and enjoy creating music...Hook's diverse style and attitude can only come with his experience in the rap game, and it's a breath of fresh air to this listener's ears." - Detroitrap.com
