GDE members play a variety of traditional African and other diaspora instruments: Anthony "Amoah" Artis(played and studied in Cuba, Ghana & USA nationally)on Ashiko, shekere & bell; Blaise Zekalo(formermember of the National Dance and Drum Troupe of Ivory Coast, West Africa) on djembe, flute & balaphon; Komoyaka "the King" King (plays with national jazz legends through out the USA) on conga & djembe; and Khabir "the Storyteller" Shareef(national storyteller) on dnuns with bell.
