"One vision, one passion, and one love for music, " is the essence of this soul-stirring group of musicians called "Eclectik Soul". Like magnets, they were drawn together to develop into this wild chemistry of beats, melodies, and poetry in song. Their recently completed and self-titled album, "Eclectik Soul" (2008) keeps the ears vibrating with "eclectic" mixtures of Jazz, R & B, and Gospel undertones. Their music emits positive energy, reflects on hardship victories, and showcases awesome creativity. This Mississippi-based band consists of a keyboard player, Symeon Robins, a.k.a., "Jazz", a lead vocalist, Tawanna Shaunte' Chapman, a.k.a., "The Messenger", and Greg Stewart, a.k.a., "Junk Yard Drummer".

The 29-year-old songstress, Tawanna Shaunte', has a voice that radiates from the very core of her soul. The depth of her lyrics can be attributed to her many experiences growing up in the small town of Florence, MS. In their song,"To Mama", Shaunte' gives a glimpse into one of her hardships as she bears her soul about her father's death. Singing since the age of 9, Shaunte's voice has matured into what might be compared to a mix between Nina Simone and Lauren Hill. Her musical performances have been with many local artists in MS, and span as far as regions in Senegal, West Africa, and South Africa.

Symeon Robins, age 27, was born in Jackson, MS where his first experiences with music was in the church. His "jazziness" and smoothness of his fingers gliding across the piano creates an array of sounds that can be both hypnotizing and spiritual. Symeon earned his Bachelor of Arts in Music Education degree from Jackson State University (Jackson, MS), but he shares and teaches his love for music daily as an elementary school music teacher. A few of his professional performances include Kelly Price, Larissa Tate with Romans 8, Tremaine Hawkins, Neal Roberson, and several local artists.

The insanity that Greg Stewart creates on the drum set almost warrants a psychiatric evaluation! Born and raised in Gary, Indiana, Greg's rawness adds just the right edge to balance off Shaunte' and Symeon's smoothness. Not only is his talent unlimited on the drum set, but being a drummer that sings background vocals adds another element of uniqueness to this band. As a graduate of Jackson State University (Jackson, MS), Greg earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance. At 30 years of age, Greg has been priviledged to perform with artists such as Richard Smallwood, Willie Clayton, Kim Burell, Daryl Coley, David Banner, Patrick Smith, and many more.

In April 2007, Tawanna Shaunte' made one life-changing phone call to Greg because of a God-inspired vision. Greg then called Symeon, and as a result, "Eclectik Soul" has been together ever since. As simple as this sounds, these are the facts of the story. Destiny united these three souls through one phone call. They are a band of faith, hope, and integrity and want the world to recognize the wealth that real music has to offer.
