The album has an old sound and feel but the songs could never be mistaken as oldies. Familiar country themes are given the dignity they deserve. The result is a rockabilly infused brand of country with subtle classical guitar work, forward looking bass lines, a few scorching electric guitar leads, and even a little yodeling.
Tales is definitely not pop country and is unlikely to receive radio play on most country stations. Totally independent, and composed, recorded, and produced in the backwoods of Humboldt County, California, Tales is pure, modern-day Americana at its finest.
