LARRY ROY, Manitobaâs COOL Jazz Musician of the Year in 2005, has established himself over the past two decades as a performer, composer, producer, and teacher. He has several critically-acclaimed disks to his credit, and has toured Europe and North America. His performances have been broadcast on radio and television in Canada and Europe. As well as playing with the whoâs who on the Winnipeg jazz scene, he has performed with such high-powered visiting musicians as Bobby Hutcherson, Terri-Lynne Carrington, Joe Lovano, Nicolas Payton, Greg Tardy, Luciana Souza, Wycliffe Gordon and Peter Erskine. He has composed for film and TV, and has established himself as an award-winning record producer. He teaches in the University of Manitobaâs Jazz Studies program.

Before coming to Winnipeg from New York in 2003, jazz bassist STEVE KIRBY had established an enviable career, performing, recording, and touring with some of the biggest names in jazz, including Elvin Jones, Wynton Marsalis, Cyrus Chestnut, Abbey Lincoln, Steve Turre, James Carter, Slide Hampton, Joe Lovano, Lester Bowie, John Hicks, and many others. He continues to be a busy performer and clinician in both Canada and the US. Kirby is the Director of Jazz Studies at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, the artistic director of the Izzy Asper Jazz Performances, advisor to the Groove-FM Jazz Winnipeg Festival, director of the U of M Summer Jazz Camp, and editor of dig! A native of East St Louis, TERREON GULLY has set the standard as one of the hottest young drummers in jazz. He performs, tours, and records with many of the most important players on the contemporary scene, including the Christian McBride Band, Stefon Harris âBlackout,â Dianne Reeves, Yerba Buena, and the David Sanborn Band. Terreon now lives in Atlanta.
STEFON HARRIS has made a name for himself as one of the premier vibraphonists in the contemporary jazz world. His performances and recordings have gained him a host of criticsâ prizes, several Grammy nominations, and a loyal audience. As well as his own band âBlackoutâ and the Classical Jazz Quartet, Harris has performed with a whoâs who of players, including Wynton Marsalis, Cassandra Wilson, Kenny Barron, and Kurt Elling. He lives in New York.
Still in his early twenties, jazz pianist WILL BONNESS has heated up the keyboard in performances across Canada as well as in some of the most prestigious jazz clubs in the United States with internationally acclaimed artists including Regina Carter, Nicholas Payton, and David âFatheadâ Newman. One of Winnipegâs busiest performers, Will is also establishing himself as a composer to watch.
Before moving to Winnipeg in 2003, ANNA-LISA KIRBY established her professional career as a jazz vocalist in New York. Her 1997 CD, Shades of Blue, featured Xavier Davis, Steve Kirby and Alvester Garnett. She has performed with many other world class jazz artists including Wynton Marsalis, Cyrus Chestnut, Wycliffe Gordon and Kenny Barron. In addition to her busy performing career, she is the jazz vocal instructor and the Jazz Program Coordinator at the University of Manitoba.
CHRISTIAN DUGAS discovered the drums when he was only two, and has been developing his craft ever since. He is a versatile Winnipeg drummer who maintains a busy career as a session player, performing and recording with jazz, pop, rock, folk, and fusion bands.
MIRON RAFAJLOVIC emigrated to Canada from Sarajevo as a child, and has been turning heads as a trumpet player and percussionist for several years. After studying in the Jazz Studies program at the University of Manitoba, he works out of Montreal now, playing with the Cirque du Soleil band and other ensembles.www.myspace.com/mironrafajlovic
