Some remarkable keyboard work fills out some of the segue sections with wonderful depth. With great harmonies and beats, this tune delivers all it was supposed to and more. There are real musicians hiding behind this pop spoof wonderland. This group parodies pop better than pop itself and if you look into its corners their true musicality can't help but leak out. The brainchild of Sean Nerney (Producer, The Old Kings, Some May Not Be), I Hate This Place elegantly brings together every electro-bubblegum-synthpop nightmare you've been having recently, complete with cheesy 80s synth lines, vocoding, offbeat and irrational lyrics and extreme autotuning to the sensational debut EP "One Minute Mayhem".
