The cofounder, keyboard player, and one of the three principal singers of the Moody Blues, Mike Pinder was a very visible presence in early progressive rock circles. A pioneering user of early electronic keyboard instruments, notably the Mellotron, Mike Pinder was known for lush, atmospheric sounds he created for the Moody Blues. His creative and unique use of the Mellotron became known as Pinder-trons. Mike introduced The Beatles to the Mellotron for Strawberry Fields.

Mike was also well known for his arrangement of the Moodies songs, and beautiful counter melodies he created for songs like âNights in White Satinâ.
His composition, A Simple Game won the Ivor Novello award for Social Comment, and was also recorded by the Four Tops.

Among the Stars was Mike Pinderâs 2nd Solo CD. Wonderful melodies, adult contemporary rock with a slight jazz influence. Mikeâs writing and arrangements in Among the Stars, like his work with the Moodies, is still rich with harmonic sophistication and socially/spiritually conscious lyrics.
