Description:
Documents the first meeting between Tetsu Inoue and Carl Stone - two giants in the experimental, ambient, and post-ambient world.
10 MP3 Songs
ELECTRONIC: Ambient, ELECTRONIC: Experimental
Details:
Pict.soul documents the first meeting between Tetsu Inoue and Carl Stone-two giants in the experimental, ambient, and post-ambient world. While their separate careers as artists each have their own unique trajectories, pict.soul develops from the possibilities for idiosyncrasy offered by the Max/MSP programming and performance environment combined with both artists' commitment to rigorously and beautifully crafted audio work.
As is always the case with Inoue and Stone, their source materials remain mysterious, identifiable for fleeting instants. The precise nature of the collaborations for each of the ten pieces on pict.soul is equally mysterious. Listeners familiar with Carl Stone's work will recognize his unique stamp on pieces like @.fine and (.ram, while fans of Tetsu Inoue's post ambient work will feel right at home with .disc and .bitÅ. In between, there is a world of pieces whose intermingled influence will vex and delight the serious trainspotter for either of the two artists. And, like any good collaboration, pict.soul ventures to places where the individual artists might not visit while travelling solo.

c74 (http://www.cycling74.com/c74/) is a label devoted to works by artists the world over who use Cycling '74 software technology (Max and MSP, in this case) to make extraordinary music and art. The label presents the full range of genres and contexts in which the community of composers and performers who use Cycling '74 software work - from traditional electroacoustic music to electronica and beyond. c74 also features areas of activity not recorded as such by other labels, such as live performances of interactive systems, less predictable works by individual artists who are already well known, and hybrid releases which may include Cycling '74 software examples in a data portion of the CD.
Cycling '74 (http://www.cycling74.com), headquartered in San Francisco, CA, develops, distributes and supports innovative software for composers, artists, and producers who dream of life above and beyond traditional sequencing and media applications. Cycling '74 products include the Max graphical programming environment, MSP, the Pluggo collection of Max/MSP-based audio plug-ins, the real-time loop-based performance program radiaL, and the interactive algorithmic composition program M.
