Details:
Inject is Amrit Basi on electronic and acoustic drums; Jamie Lubiner on guitar, guitar-to-MIDI converter, and software synths; and Peter 'Fish' Fisera on synthesizers.

They play highly improvised music focusing on jazzbient, trip-hop, breaks, drum and bass, trance, house, and previously unnamed and undiscovered flavors of electronic music. Usually dance-oriented and always experimental, Inject have packed dance floors and totally freaked out the jaded "I've seen it all" music fans around Vancouver, Nelson and the Sunshine Coast.

The energy from Inject's live performances has electrified and mesmerized Vancouver audiences for the last 3 years in such venues as the Purple Onion (monthly residency), Shine, the Sugar Refinery, DV8, the Side Door, Café Deux Soleils, the VFS Web Café, Robert's Creek Hall, the Progression Mixed Media Gallery, and on CITR Radio.

Amrit Basi is a completely self-taught drummer. His love for the instrument began at an early age but was dormant up until his teens, when he finally got behind the instrument already knowing the various stages of limb-independence required to play drums. Hip-hop and it's rhythms were the catalyst that would launch Amrit into a whirlwind journey of drum set exploration. At 31, he has now evolved to a state where he has formed an instrumental improvisational trio focusing on the live organic execution of electronic music and all of its sub-genres and beyond. Inject allows him, along with his fellow instigators, to explore their instruments live, fusing the improv mentality of jazz with the groove-orientation of electronica. His constant hunger for knowledge and intense personal feeling to express his soul on the drums is his fuel that feeds the fire, resulting in boundary-pushing music.

Jamie Lubiner was born in Montreal, Quebec, in 1974. Jamie got his first taste of performing when in 1983, he played the vocal line for 'Eye of the Tiger' on his mini-organ for a sold-out crowd at his elementary school talent show. Jamie gave up music studies until 1985 when his Mom bought him his first acoustic guitar for $50. When he discovered Led Zeppelin and the Who in the summer of 1989, his whole world changed. Over the next 8 years he would write some sappy love songs, jam with friends, perform at coffee houses and open mic nights, wooing the ladies with his voice. When he moved to Vancouver in 1998 Jamie met his current partner in rhythm, Amrit Basi, while playing bass in the now defunct Vancouver
rockband, Money Hungry Newlywedz. Amrit introduced Jamie to the drum and bass scene and got him hooked on fat grooves and synthy sounds. Trying to meld his classic rock roots and guitar abilities with the groove oriented dance-tillyou-drop vision of Inject, is an ongoing experiment in sonic and rhythmic wizardry. Using guitars and MIDI technology has allowed Jamie, a computer programmer by trade, to weave his technical geekery into the musical equation creating a wicked brew of sound textures that would have even blown Jimi away.

Peter 'Fish' Fisera has been playing synthesizers and other keyboards since the age of 12, starting with a primitive Rolf Harris 'stylophone' and a fire-salvaged Hammond organ. Fish started playing rock and roll in various bands in Calgary and Edmonton Alberta, and moved to Vancouver in 1991 to pursue his music career (as well as the leftcoast lifestyle and Wreck Beach). He helped form the prog/psychedelic/ new wave band Arthur Ellis (along with Shannon Hallett, now of Shrimpmeat, and other local scenesters) and projects such as Concentric and Public Online Terminal. He joined Inject in August of
2001 as the 'new guy in the band', a role he wasn't used to filling, but was quite happy about it when he realized how awesome Jamie and Amrit are. As well as Inject, Fish does solo live techno under the names Transgress (using hardware sequencers on stage) and Koolatron (an older, more ambient project, 100 live and no sequencing, just hands and feet).
